SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: FREE CCW training for school employees:Armed & Safe is offering free CCW classes for any school employee who can obtain written permission to carry at work, which is allowed under Nevada law. Company owner and lead instructor(18 years), Kelly Main, is an elementary public school teacher (16 years). In light of the tragedy in Connecticut, we feel that the publicity of school staff carrying concealed weapons could discourage planned attacks. When seconds count, police are just minutes away. Staff who know the layout of the school and the people on campus would have a better chance of surviving and eliminating the threat to others immediately.
Most schools already have employees who have a CCW permit.

Relax, you're among friends. Our goal is to give you the best class possible to prepare you to carry a pistol for personal protection in the real world. This is where most of us live and we want you to be ready to defend yourself and your family when trouble comes looking for you. We also want you to avoid trouble by any means available to you. It's nice to carry a gun that you'll never need. Armed and Safe Firearms Training provides the best 8 hour instruction possible as required by the state of Nevada. We’re here to provide this course of training in a professional, fun and relaxed class. We’ve been teaching in Northern Nevada for over 18 years and have helped more citizens get their CCW permits than any other company in the area. People keep coming back to us because they feel comfortable during our class. From the most experienced competition and ex military or law enforcement, to first-time shooters, people tell us that they learned a lot from us in the classroom and on the range.
We are passionate about guns, 2nd Ammendment rights, training and improving your skills by improving our own through the study of shooting fundamentals, defensive pistol techniques, awareness and state and federal laws.
We will conduct a class almost every Saturday at Scheels, and a few weekdays per month.. We offer a Sunday class during the weekend of the Big Reno Gun Shows, and occationally in Winnemucca, NV. Other than that we don't do classes on Sundays.
Recent changes
As of October 1st 2013 you only need to qualify with one gun. No more semi-auto or revolver or both, and no qualifying with all your semi-autos as in the past. It will simply be a permit to carry any pistol(s).
Nevada recently gained New Mexico, Mississippi, North Dakota, and Sweet Home Alabama.
Florida IS valid in New Mexico AGAIN as of summer 2012. But lost Washington.
Arizona is still recognized by NM, but is no longer recognized in NV for non-resident carry, as of March 2013.
Wisconsin recognizes AZ and UT as of Oct 2011
Expect that soon you may be able to carry in all states with a permit from your home state, hopefully from any state. WE will need to elect a pro-gun President first. Keep up the pressure, gun community!
Gun free zones are dangerous

SCHEELS in Reno NV is the worlds largest all sports store and is loaded with everything from guns and fishing rods to mountain bikes and golf gear.
SCHEELS is the pride of Reno with two floors of departments for snowboarding, rock climbing, and paint ball with simulators for hunting, pitching baseball and golfing. Even an old fashioned shooting gallery.
Kids love SCHEELS too with the giant ferris wheel right in the center of the store and very realistic NASCAR simulators.
And every department has their very own expert who are passionate about the gear they sell. They know it well, and they only sell you what you need.  And some of them have taken their classes from us for CCW. Everyone I know who has been to SCHEELS loves the store.
And if you're in town during the BIG RENO GUN SHOW, it's open for three days and you may need all three to see everything. It's two massive rooms at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno in April, August, and November.
We do special classes before the show, on Sunday and  right after the Big Reno Gun Show.
Armed and Safe Firearms training is not affiliated with Scheels or The Big Reno Gun Show

As the Supreme Court hears arguments for and against the Chicago, IL, Gun Ban, I offer you another stellar example of a letter, that places the proper perspective on what a gun means to a civilized society.
"The Gun Is Civilization"
By Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret)Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force . If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it .
In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion . Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.
When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force .The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender. There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat - it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.
Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.
People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force, watch too much TV where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier, works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level. The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply would not work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.
When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded . I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... And that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act!!
By Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret.)
So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced !!This is worth printing and sharing with others.......right? Remember freedom is not free.
